Jan 30-Feb 1: Kentucky to Atlanta!

Jan 30:

1:35 am- After ten hours of driving and an elaborate rescue mission involving numerous family and friends, we are back on track! We were able to reschedule our school programs on our return trip. For those who missed the last post, the transmission gave out on my mini van so I hitched a ride to Michigan, got my dad’s car (thanks to my mom and Susan Hardy), and drove back to meet up with Dad in Louisville.

What a ride!! Zava the van was shipped to Michigan for repair.

Jan 31:

11 am- We said our temporary farewell to our friend Susan and hit the road.

2:30 pm- Arrived in Nashville! We got out for our daily walk and explored the city. With music and murals around every corner, it was a feast for the senses. Dad has a pep in his step that I haven't seen in a long time.

5 pm- We were treated to an Indian feast thanks to our new friend Leejaa at Curry and Tikka.

We had wonderful food and great conversation about Indian culture and traditional hand painted artwork on the walls. With full bellies and renewed energy, we continued on to Chattanooga!

Feb 1:

8 am- Bright and early we wandered the waterfront near Walnut Bridge in Chattanooga! We made notes on potential stops for our return visit, and places to contact for school programs.

10:30am- In Atlanta!  We went to Target to grab some essentials and noticed a tall guy with a Michigan hat! We sparked up a conversation with Schuyler and soon found out he was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan- not far from where my dad grew up. Not bad for our first encounter in Georgia!

3 pm-5 pm- I had a photo shoot with one of my long-time film friends, Richard! He rolls his film, shoots it, and processes it in his own dark room.  While we were shooting, my dad was drawing his Nashville experience. Two hours of drawing and he came up with this masterpiece!

More updates coming soon! We’re diving through the Thunderbolt, Georgia archives, tracking down dads old friends, searching for shrimp boats and interviewing so many interesting people! Can't wait to share!
